About Me…Through the Book Blogger HOP #1

Book Blogger Hop

I just recently came across the Book Blogger HOP, which was started by the blogger behind Crazy-for-Books. I know i am super late…or not. You can join these things at any point. But i feel lost…you without further ado i will attempt to answer all/or some of the questions that have taken place over the months and then in the end i will answer the most recent one. Here goes:

“What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why are you anticipating that book?”

The book i really want to read is What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen. You don’t know what they mean when they say, “Read her once and fall in love!” Its true.

What Happened to Goodbye Cover

You do end up falling in love and then you just want to devour every single book that she has ever written – What Happened to Goodbye isher 10th. She just has this way with her words, characters that makes them so real. She covers reality in her books and explores teen angst. And not to mention the LOVE! Up till now i have read only 4 of her books: This Lullaby, Just Listen, Lock & Key and The Truth About Forever. You’ll know what i mean when you give her a shot and pick up her books. She doesn’t disappoint!

“Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her.”

Jade is the protagonist from The Nature of Jade. She’s been diagnosed with Panic Disorder but the elephants in the zoo seem to keep her calm. (we all have our Zen place) It is through this that she comes across Sebastian – Sebastian who has a super cute son. Jade’s character really reels you into the book. Through meeting Sebastian, Jade starts making decisions that willThe Nature of Jade reflect her future but it is through him that she finds true love.  (didn’t want to give away too much, but i think i already did.) There is a part where she shows her anger and i just about loved it. Its when she finds out that her mom has gone behind her back and done something (read the book to find out) that she gets really angry and the glass of lemonade has to suffer. She throws it against her house. Now that is something i’ve always wanted to do…you know find an outlet for when i’m feeling angry. 😛

“If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?”

The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney

The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa

Every single Sarah Dessen book i could get my hands on (the 6 i don’t have)

All the books ever written by Susane Colasanti (especially Something Like Fate and So Much Closer)

“Who’s your all-time favorite book villain?”

This is tough! I never think much about my favorite villains. But I think I will chose Darken Rahl from the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Although he was definitely evil, he also has an interesting history. Plus he reappears for several books, so I feel like I know the man behind the villain. And that makes you both love him and hate him at the same time.

Couldn’t have said it better myself…btw thats what the blogger behind Between the Covers said.

“Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?”

Now that i think of all the possibilities, i do wish that i had named by blog something else. Something which was most definitely related to books. But this blog was never supposed to be book related, it was supposed to be about my transition from high school to everything else the world had to offer. But then i realised that i loved books a bit too much and i had to find an outlet for all that love and who better than to share all that love with than the authors behind all those amazing stories and a whole blogging community that loves books just as much as i do. Plus after all this time, i just think everything is perfect as it is.

“What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?”The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset
The Hunger Games – the start of a revolution for the dystopia genre.  But iwon’t say i didn’t like it because…(confession time) i haven’t had the privilege of reading it. Yes, this is a sad confession because i am super eager to become a part of all the madness. So, don’t worry. If i happen to find the book i will surely pick it up and get to the reading. Obviously, with the reading comes the review 🙂

“Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?”

I actually read a variety of books but i try to stick to the Young Adult genre and i am successful almost all the time. Why do i love young adult books? Hmm…because its got everything to do with what i am going through in life. I can relate so easily to it and i’ve always liked how i can related to the characters in the stories i read. Then again, i can’t say why i really like this genre because its just been instilled in my head that i am to love it. Like i was born to read this genre and that my calling was to blog about it and post the reviews.

“Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?”

That totally depends on my mood. If i am engrossed into a book to the point where i can’t put it down without having a seizure, i will be reading that book at that time. But then there are times when i have the urge to devour books, you read as much as i can. Thats when you’ll find that i’m reading 3-4 books at the same time, much to the shock of all those around me. But don’t worry, i retain everything and can differentiate the stories easily. I guess my talent comes from being a bookworm 😀

Today’s question:

“Summer is coming quickly – what 2011 summer release are you are most looking forward to?”

Abandon (Abandon Trilogy #1)

New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can’t help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she’s never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she’s moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can’t. Because even here, he finds her. That’s how desperately he wants her back. She knows he’s no guardian angel, and his dark world isn’t exactly heaven, yet she can’t stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.
